As we approach up on Christmas, I am reminded of how we must not take responsibility for other people's experiences or happiness. Although you may try your hardest to make others happy, people are who they are and by simply accepting them as they are and not expecting a different outcome from the same person, you may spare your own disappointment.

This brings me back to a blog I wrote previously about feeling your feet. Not all of us have the same point of view. We are all a product of our own unique life experiences and personality types. But just because someone's ideas are different from yours, does not mean that you cannot love them or appreciate where they are coming from.

Sometimes, friends or family members are wrapped up in their own self-ideals. So, when you find yourself in this situation, you want to remember to feel your feet, know where you stand, take a deep breath and smile. Because you are not responsible for that person's understanding, you are not responsible for that person's happiness. You're only responsible for your own happiness and your own growth and understanding. And there is such beauty and the simple art of understanding ourselves. Some people spend their whole lives trying to find themselves. And to think that you realizing this--already you have taken a giant step forward in that journey. You should congratulate yourself! Feel a deeper level of abundance and love not only within yourself but in this connection with others as you understand their point of view and let go of the need to please all people in all things.
